This page is for workers' comp firms licensed in Texas. It covers how the Texas system is set up, what your intake team should screen for, and how our leads work. For what changes from state to state, see the workers' comp leads by state hub.

How workers' comp is run in Texas

Texas workers' comp is overseen by the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC). Its injured employee resources list the forms workers use, including DWC Form-041, the Employee's Claim for Compensation, and DWC Form-053, the Employee Request to Change Treating Doctor. The same page points to the Office of Injured Employee Counsel and to a tool for checking whether an employer has coverage.

How a worker finds a doctor depends on how the employer set up its workers' comp coverage, including whether it uses a certified health care network.

What to screen for in Texas

Reporting to the employer

DWC's injured employee FAQ says the worker must report the injury to the employer within 30 days from the date they were hurt, or from the date they knew the injury or illness was related to the job. If they don't, they may not get benefits.

Filing with DWC

The same FAQ says the worker must send a completed DWC Form-041 to DWC within one year of the date they were hurt to protect their rights.

Doctor rules

If the employer is in a certified network, the worker must choose a treating doctor from the network's provider list, according to the FAQ. If the employer isn't in a network, the worker can ask their current doctor whether they treat workers' comp. TDI's guide to health care networks adds that if the worker doesn't choose a treating doctor, the network will choose one. The worker may change treating doctors once without approval, to another doctor on the list, and further changes need the network's approval.

What every Texas workers' comp lead includes

The injured worker fills in our form themselves. Each lead includes:

  • Whether they were injured while working
  • Employment status
  • Injury date
  • State and ZIP code
  • Whether the injury was reported to the employer
  • Medical treatment so far
  • Injury details, in their own words
  • Whether they already have an attorney
  • An SMS-verified phone number
  • A TrustedForm certificate

Leads that don't match your filters aren't sent. The TrustedForm certificate records the form session and the consent to be contacted, and the SMS check confirms the phone number. Our TrustedForm and lead verification guide explains how to read both.

How it works for Texas firms

  1. Book a strategy call. Tell us you're licensed in Texas, plus any other states, your intake hours and where leads should go.
  2. Set your Texas screening and place a first paid order. We agree your filters with you, using questions like the ones above.
  3. We run workers' comp campaigns nationwide. A lead reaches you only when the worker was hurt in a state you've chosen and the lead passes your filters.
  4. Leads go to your CRM by webhook, LeadDocket, Litify or GoHighLevel, or by email or SMS alert. We can route leads by office or case type.

We don't publish lead volume or ad figures for any single state. On the call, we'll be straight with you about what your filters can support before your first paid order. The full service is on our workers' comp leads page.
